Alan Dellinger

President | Reliability Engineer | Instructor | Consultant | Hydraulic Specialist
Alan "AL" Dellinger is a distinguished hydraulic expert with over 35 years of experience in troubleshooting, system reliability, and technical training. His career began in 1985 at International Paper Co. in Louisiana, where he started in production before advancing to a Millwright position. During his tenure, he developed extensive expertise in pneumatics, hydraulics, gear drives, motor alignment, and metal fabrication.
After 15 years with International Paper, AL joined GPM Hydraulic Consulting in Monroe, Georgia, in 2000 as an Instructor and Consultant. His leadership and technical proficiency led him to assume the role of Operations Manager, where he played a pivotal role in delivering hydraulic system training across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Scotland, and Europe. His contributions extended to fluid power services for wood products facilities, automotive plants, and steel mills. However, in 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic led to the closure of GPM Hydraulic Consulting.
Following this transition, AL accepted a position as a Reliability Engineer with West Fraser in 2021. In this role, he was responsible for conducting criticality analysis, specifying and designing new equipment, performing Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), monitoring key metrics, and developing predictive and preventative maintenance plans. Additionally, he coached plant personnel, conducted root cause failure analysis, and oversaw reliability reporting and strategic planning. In 2022, AL earned certification as a Category 1 Vibration Analyst and provided hydraulic training and support for West Fraser’s Lumber and OSB divisions.
In 2023, AL founded his own LLC, leveraging his extensive experience to offer in-person and online training, hydraulic system health assessments, and troubleshooting services to the manufacturing industry. After retiring from West Fraser on August 29, 2024, he dedicated himself to providing expert consultation and innovative solutions.
Expanding his technical expertise further, AL has ventured into product development and has invented a specialized tool for the reliability industry designed to test electric motors and gearboxes. Details about this breakthrough innovation will be unveiled soon.
Recognized for his contributions to engineering and hydraulic systems, AL was inducted into Marquis Who’s Who in America in 2024. His lifelong dedication to reliability engineering, hydraulic systems, and technical mentorship continues to make an impact on industries worldwide.
